NEW CLIENT FORMGrowing up in an old time paniolo family in south Kona, animals have always been part of Dr. Elison's life. Her youth was full of rich experiences, being a horseback rider in Kona, watching her Grandfather train horses and catch wild bulls, and caring for the many dogs on the ranch, all enriched her love and interest in veterinary medicine. With a priority on education, Dr. Elison elected to move to Honolulu for her middle school education as a 7th grade boarder at Kamehameha Schools. After graduating in 1968, she attended Oklahoma State University. Dr. attended Washington State University for her first year of veterinary school and in 1975 completed her doctorate degree in veterinary medicine and surgery at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. As most roads lead back to Hawaii, Dr. Elison returned to work for Kaneohe Veterinary Clinic for one year and then in 1977 opened her own practice, Haiku Veterinary Clinic, Inc. In 2002, Dr. Elison completed the Colorado State University Animal Acupuncture course and continues to integrate Western and Eastern medicine into her general practice, improving the quality of life and increasing preventative care for many of her patients.
Areas of Interest:Dr. Elison lives in Kailua with her husband. She has three grown daughters, 1 horse, 3 dogs, 2 cats, and 1 bird that keep her busy. Dr. Elison strongly believes in giving back to the community, her service includes board positions with the Aloha State Dressage Society and Kailua Hawaiian Civic Club.

Dr. Fanning attended Oregon State University as an undergraduate majoring in Animal Science and was admitted to the Oregon State Veterinary program as a third year undergraduate student. Dr. Fanning then earned a dual veterinary degree from Oregon State University and Washington State University in 2006.
Areas of Interest:Dr. Autumn Fanning grew up in Santa Ynez, California raising dairy goats and riding horses. She knew from a very young age that being a veterinarian was her passion. In addition to her service at Haiku Veterinary Clinic three days a week, she also practices at Oahu Equine Veterinary Clinic, as a large animal veterinarian. Dr. Fanning continues to professional pursuits include consulting for the University of Hawaii and USEF Equine Drugs and Medications Program drug testing for O'ahu equestrian events.
Dr. Amanda Dale was raised in a rural town called Park Falls, among the lakes and trees of northern Wisconsin. She went off to school at Northern Arizona University and University of Oregon for degrees in Liberal Arts and Biology. Veterinary medicine wasn't her goal from the beginning, but three very special ladies (one ferret and two amazing canines) led her to that career. Dr. Dale graduated from the University of Wisconsin-School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. Most of her family currently resides in the Pacific Northwest. She considers Oregon as well as Wisconsin to be her mainland base. She and her husband Alex consider themselves very fortunate to have landed in windward Oahu and to have become a part of the Haiku family.
Areas of Interest:Dr. Dale graduated with a mixed animal background that was evenly balanced between small and large animals. She has some experience with small ruminant medicine as well as small mammal and reptile care. Since arriving at Haiku Veterinary Clinic, she has been focused on preventative and general medicine for small companion animals as well as soft tissue surgery. Dr. Dale hopes to incorporate more complimentary medicine in the future.
Lisel Coles is the Office Manager at Haiku Veterinary Clinic. She was born and raised in Hawaii attending Le Jardin & La Pietra. She is currently in school working towards her degree in business with an emphasis in marketing.
Areas of Interest:Lisel is an animal lover! She has two Australian Shepherds, Panda & Kamalu and two horses Sir & Desi. Lisel spends all day at the clinic around patients and then all afternoon/evening with her horses and dogs. Other passions she has in life include reading, spending time with friends and traveling. Rachele Wolfe started working for Haiku Veterinary Clinic in the fall of 2005. She was born and raised in Hawaii and attended St. Francis and Kailua High School. In addition to working at Haiku Veterinary Clinic, Rachele is working on her degree in business from UH Manoa. As the assistant office manager, she enjoys all the aspects of the administrative side along with the fun loving patients she gets to greet every day.
Areas of Interest:Rachele's passion in life is animals. She owns a horse named Watch Me, a 2 year old Australian Shepherd named Aayden, and two cuddly cats Spam & Musubi. In addition to working at the veterinary clinic, she loves taking her dog to the beach, riding her horse and having a relaxing afternoon with a book in hand.
Jessica has been a receptionist at Haiku Veterinary Clinic since November of 2005. As a child she dreamed of being a veterinarian and has always loved animals. Her education includes an Associates of Arts degree and she is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Science degree in Zoology.
Areas of Interest:Jessica was born and raised in Kailua, HI. She currently has an Airedale Terrier mix named Simba, a calico cat named Pa'ani, and a 55 gallon salt water fish tank. When she's not at school or work, her passion is surfing. She also enjoys hiking, camping, paddling, and swimming.
Amanda graduated with a degree in Psychology from the Illinois State University and when she moved out on her own, she decided to get a Rottweiler of her own named Chaya and become extremely involved with dog agility.
Areas of Interest:Amanda grew up in a small suburb just west of Chicago Illinois with her mother, father and brother, and many Rottweilers. In September 2008, she, her husband and Chaya, her Rottweiler made the longer journey to Hawaii. She has been working at Haiku Vet Clinic for about a year now and has also has adopted another dog named Dante.
Gaye has been working at Haiku Veterinary clinic since January 1999. Gaye has a soft spot for rescuing and re-homing feral kittens and stray puppies. Her efforts have given many families loving pets and many animals in need, the love and care that they deserve.
Areas of Interest:She is an island girl through and through. She grew up here in Hawaii and graduated from Kaiser High school. Gaye lives with her husband Denny and their plethora of pets; Caspar the American Bull Dog, Cori the Pit Bull, Peaches the Toy Poodle, Harley the Domestic Long Hair, and Phantom the Domestic Shorthair. She enjoys traveling and has visited countries ranging from France to England, Japan to Greece, Romania to Russia, and Colombia to Canada.
Liz Herring was born and raised in Kaneohe. Prior to working for Haiku Veterinary Clinic Liz spent her time volunteering at the clinic in intermediate and high school. She has been employee of Haiku Veterinary Clinic since 2001. Liz has also spent time working at an emergency veterinary hospital, and countless hours volunteering at the Hawaiian Humane Society; where she spent time working in each department learning and experiencing the adoption process.
Areas of Interest:Outside of work Liz’s passions are hiking with her dogs, and volunteering with AccesSurf; an organization that provide adaptive equipment and assists people with cognitive or physical disabilities reach the ocean and participate in adaptive surfing or swimming. She also organizes a hiking group on meetup.com called Hiking Oahu with Dogs and runs two other groups, Oahu Doberman and Oahu Boxer meetups. Liz is a Doberman advocate and has been able to help rehome numerous Dobermans into new loving homes. Her current Doberman is Kahu Kupa’a, a red male with natural ears. Kahu has two feline friends, Bobby Bentley and Le'a, and a three legged Vizsla mix all three adopted from the Clinic. Liz also has an Australian cattle dog adopted from the Hawaii Humane Society named Khloe who retired from hiking to live with her brother on the Big Island.
Jeanne Laba graduated from James B. Castle High School in June 2002. She has worked at Haiku Veterinary Clinic since June 2003. Jeanne has a bachelor's degree in Animal Science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Areas of Interest:In her spare time she enjoys reading. Jeanne has one rottweiler puppy, but hope to adopt a cat in the near future.
Laurel attended Hawaii Pacific University and graduated in 2005 with a bachelors in Environmental Studies and a certificate of Public Anthropology. She has been working as a Veterinary Technician since 2006 and currently has a cat Cleo, dog Cambry, and a Horse Mira.
Areas of Interest:Laurel grew up in the small town of Smartsville, California with her Mother, Sister and a vast menagerie of pets. She had dogs, cats, horses, a cow, goats, rabbits, rats, mice, hamsters, fish, parakeets, chickens, ducks, chinchillas, a snake, a salamander, a wide variety of lizards and frogs, and turtles. Her mom got used to the phrase, “it followed me home, can I keep it?” She has been riding and competing horses since she was 5 years old and spent several years working with young horses and troubled older horses (She even saddle broke and trail rode her cow, Norman!) as well as teaching English riding lessons. In high school she moved to Stinson Beach, California and then following high school moved out to East Oahu.
Chris received an Associates of Science degree specializing in Veterinary Medicine in 1999, and became licensed in California as a Veterinary technician shortly after. She has worked in the veterinary field on and off throughout the past 10 years. Chris has been at Haiku Veterinary Clinic since November of 2008.
Areas of Interest:Chris grew up in the small town of Lodi California, up until she joined the Military in 2001. After 5 years of Honorable Service in the US Navy, she returned to her passion of working with animals and joined a veterinary hospital in Tempe AZ. Chris relocated to Hawaii in 2008 and joined the team at Haiku a month later. Chris recently had her first child (Ian Joseph) and has returned to the team at Haiku part time. She has 2 dogs “Caesar” the pug and “Titus” the Boston terrier, who are full of energy and love spending time at the beach. When Chris isn’t busy with work and school, she loves spending time with her friends and family.
Natalie received her Bachelor's of Science in Zoology from the University of New Hampshire in 2006. She has been working in Veterinary Medicine in both general practice and emergency hospitals since 2006. She recently moved to Kaneohe from New Hampshire and joined the Haiku family.
Areas of Interest:Natalie was born and raised in Nashua, New Hampshire but has visited Hawaii almost every year since she was five. She has always considered Hawaii to be her second home. She decided to move to Kaneohe with her boyfriend and 2 dogs Roxy and Dingo in January 2010. Natalie loves spending time with her family and friends, hiking, snorkeling, and reading.
Tyler is a local kid, raised in Kaneohe. He is a graduate of Castle High School and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science at the University of Hawaii with aspirations of moving on to a Veterinary School on the West Coast. He actually started at Haiku Veterinary Clinic as a volunteer before getting hired as a Veterinary Assistant.
Areas of Interest:He had always been interested in animals and grew up watching Animal Planet, the National Geographic Channel, and begging his mom for a puppy every year. However, it wasn’t until after high school that he got his first pup, “Kona.”
Getting hired at Haiku Veterinary Clinic as Kennel help, Zach made the transition to Veterinary Assisting and is currently doing both. Growing up around many different animals, he had always been interested in working with animals. Haiku Veterinary Clinic gives Zach good experience working towards his dream of being able to travel and work with animals.
Areas of Interest:Zach grew up in Makakilo and graduated from Kapolei High School. He attended California State Polytechnic University for two years as a Biology major then decided to move back to the islands to finish his Bachelor’s Degree as a Zoology major at The University of Hawaii. Zach saw more opportunity to travel and work within the islands with a Zoology degree from UH.
Kiara started working at Haiku Vet Clinic August of 2009. She started as kennel help and is currently learning the ways of assisting. She attended Oregon State University for two years focusing on classes in the animal science field but moved back to Hawaii to pursue the new two-year Vet Assisting program at Windward Community College. She is hoping to move on to get her two-year degree from San Juan online college and become a certified Veterinary Technician.
Areas of Interest:Kiara was born and raised in Hawaii and graduated from Kahuku High school in 2007. She was raised around animals including rescued baby pigs, goats, some turkeys and a lot of rabbits. She also helped to raise a few litters of Brittany spaniel puppies. She currently has two Brittany's she's raised since they were born Honu and Miki, a toy poodle named Kahi, a cat named Lola, and two geese named Pipi and Kaula. In her spare time she likes to take the dogs to the beach, go running, and wake board.
